Natural Bamboo Plywood 4.3 mm consists of seven cross-bonded plies. Glue type UF.

Bamboo is a group of perennial evergreens in the true grass family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae, and tribe Bambuseae. Giant bamboos are the largest members of the grass family. In bamboo, the internodal regions of the stem are hollow in many species, and the vascular bundles in the cross section are scattered throughout the stem instead of in a cylindrical arrangement.

Bamboo is tough and strong. Bamboo thatch consists of cellulose fibres, like a tree, but unlike wood, its long fibres contain lignin and silica.
The hollow morphology of bamboo combined with the evenly distributed nodes on the stem increases its lateral strength.
Its fibres have a tensile strength of 40 kp/mm², higher than any other ordinary wood fibre which reaches 5 kp/mm², and higher than structural steel fibre which goes 37 kp/mm². In addition, bamboo is soft, light and flexible.

The Brinell test consists of measuring the mark left in the wood by a hard steel ball of 10mm diameter subjected to a load of 500 to 3000 kg, depending on the case.
The interpretation of the test is the calculation of the relationship between the area of the mark left by the ball and the force at which it falls.
According to this test, bamboo is 27% harder than American red oak and over 13% harder than American maple.

Care information

Maintain your Plywood sheets flat and supported.

Place plywood sheets horizontally on a levelled surface ensuring uniform weight distribution. This method reduces the possibility of warping.

Additionally, ensure sufficient support under the entire stack to prevent the bottom sheets from sagging or bending. Three timber bearers must be placed under plywood sheets.

Delivery and Shipping

To ensure affordability, Ply Online delivery pricing is determined dynamically at the checkout stage. Delivery rate is calculated based on receiver's location, weight, dimensions, and address type (residential or commercial).

By default, all shipping rates are forklift on/off. Hand unload attracts extra charges.

If you do not see rates for your destination before the checkout, please reach out to our sales team by (03) 8522 1508 for an accurate quote.

Abbreviations

  • HMR Board (High Moisture Resistance Board): A type of MDF or particleboard that has been treated to resist moisture, making it suitable for use in humid environments such as bathrooms and kitchens.
  • MR Glue (Melamine-Urea Glue): An adhesive designed to withstand exposure to moisture. It’s often used in the production of moisture-resistant wood products like MR boards.
  • EXT Glue (Exterior Glue): A type of adhesive specifically formulated for outdoor use, providing strong bonding in conditions where exposure to the elements is a factor.
  • INT Glue (Interior Glue): An adhesive designed for indoor use, where exposure to moisture and outdoor conditions is minimal. It's typically used for interior woodwork and furniture.
  • HPL (High-Pressure Laminate): A durable, decorative surface material made by applying high pressure and heat to layers of paper and resin. It’s commonly used for countertops and furniture surfaces.
  • DSL (Decorative Surface Laminates): A broad category of laminates used to provide decorative finishes to surfaces, which includes products like HPL but can also encompass other types of surface treatments.
  • FSC (Forest Stewardship Council): An international certification organization that ensures that wood and paper products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
  • PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification): Another global certification system for sustainable forest management. It promotes sustainable forestry practices and ensures that forest products are sourced responsibly.
  • E1: A classification for formaldehyde emissions in wood products. E1 is a standard that indicates low formaldehyde emissions, ensuring that the product is safer for indoor air quality.

Our plywood & cladding can be supplied as full boards, and most products are available in a choice of various sizes. Also you can have the plywood cut or CNC-machined to your own specifications.

Standard size of a plywood sheet is 2440 x 1220 mm, with thicknesses ranging from 3 mm right up to 40 mm for birch plywood.

To learn more about sizes we stock have a look at 'What are the standard dimensions of your plywood sheets?' section in our FAQ page.

How much does a sheet of plywood cost?

Plywood prices depend on the quantity of items, specific material and size you are after. Feel free to get a Trade quote or Call Us, and we will be glad to provide you a best price for your plywood needs.

What types of cladding panels have you got?

We offer a range of Birch and Bamboo Cladding as well as Architectural Panels.

Can plywood and cladding be cut to size?

In Ply Online cladding and plywood sheets can be cut to size by request, and the final price may vary.

MDF vs Plywood: what is the difference?

Being engineered wood products both plywood and MDF panels are typically used for commercial applications and DIY projects.

MDF is manufactured from fine wooden fibres bonded with resin. In contrast, plywood panels are made from veneer wood sheets bonded together with specific glue.

It is important to note that quality plywood panel has a visible timber grain, while MDF does not display a grain as it is made from wooden fibres.

The main difference is that MDF does not tolerate structural load, bending and twisting, and as a matter of fact is easily damaged by moisture.
